Moving beyond your first skirt patterns to drape skirt patterns: To work with these more complex skirt patterns you would need to have confidence in your skirt block. By that I mean you know if fits because you've used it to make number of skirt patterns. A small fitting or shape error in your basic skirt block will have some impact on outcome of these skirts. We have had a good run lately with Cowl Drape styles and this week is no exception with the Cowl Back Tee. Last week was the Vivienne Drape Dress featuring a Cowl Drape on the neckline and in the skirt. And Two weeks ago a reworking of The Drape Shift in a woven fabric for The Drape Shift - Woven. You might say we are coming at the #CowlDrape thing from all directions.

This weeks design is a homage to one of my favourite designers, Vivienne Westwood. The understated neckline drape and off centre skirt drape are characteristic of her wonderful draped dresses. The Saturday #PatternPuzzle was the usual flurry of answers and great
ideas from all our fans. This weeks bias cut dress with asymmetric
placement of large tucks is fast becoming a favourite and already the
pattern has been made for the first toile.
