For a very long time images of the elizabethan shirt as a pattern or garment have fascinated me. Developed in a time when clothing patterns used every bit of fabric because textiles were considered to be of great value. A recent bout of binge watching
Bridgerton set me on the path of working out the best possible zero-waste pattern for an Elizabethan Shirt.
And here it is, a PDF for cutting The Elizabethan Shirt on several different width fabrics. The pattern will make up to different sizes according to the fabric you use. A garment measurement chart has been included so you can decide which is the best size for your use.
The documents available are for fabric widths 110cm, 130cm and 150cm and are available in print formats A4/letter, A0 and 36" plotter. Included in your download is a set of sewing instructions and my observations as I made my own Elizabethan Shirt.
My PDF block and sewing pattern downloads can be printed as A0 or 36” plotter print at your local print shop or as A4/letter at home. Please be sure when you go to the print shop or print at home that you select for printing at 'actual size' with 'no scaling', or at 100%.
I've found one of the most important aspects of this design is the quality of the fabric you use. Light and with a very soft drape will get you the best possible outcome.
You'll find
more information about this fascinating #zerowaste pattern on my blog 'well-suited'. If you fancy making your own sewing pattern you'll find the instructions in the linked blog post. I have added only one option for teaching or business use (Ao for 130cm fabric). If that option doesn't suit you please contact me so I can arrange your desired format.
