The catwalk is full of knit garments with kimono style sleeves and that’s all the motivation I need to make this post about drafting your own Knit Kimono Block. I’ve put together a detailed worksheet taking you though all the stages of the pattern making process.
This worksheet is available here. You’ll start the process with a fully tested and verified Womens Knit Block, also available on the website. The most important thing to remember is that my knit block is a close fitting block that is suited to two-way stretch (four-way stretch in the US) knit fabrics. If you’re after a looser fit in your patterns and blocks you can loosen the fit of the knit block or you can use a block that is one or two sizes larger than usual.
