The Dinner Shirt Sewing Pattern is a classic shirt design that can be interpreted as both an interesting workplace shirt or a colourful creative weekend shirt. It can be sewn in one fabric only making the most of all the creative seaming. Or made colourful with the use of one or two contrast fabrics in the collar and shirt bib pieces. It is designed for woven fabrics only and would suit fine woven shirtings in cotton, linen or silk. For workwear the use of a quality polyester blend shirting would provide you with a work shirt that requires very little care. Your download will include 3 PDF documents:
- The PDF of the pattern in the print size you have selected.
- A photo tutorial of sewing instructions (11 page PDF).
- A PDF with fabric usage, garment measurements and lay-plans for all fabrics and styles (11 pages PDF).
My PDF block and pattern downloads can be printed as A0 or 36” plotter print at your local print shop or as A4/letter at home. Please be sure when you go to the print shop or print at home that you select for printing at ‘actual size’ with ‘no scaling’, or at 100%. This will make sure your pattern is printed at the correct size.

This pattern includes all nine sizes in A4/letter (35 pages), A0 (2 pages) and plotter print versions.

Shirt features:
The design features traditional tailored shirt detail with a dinner shirt style bib panel with princess line seams, double layer back yoke, two-piece collar and the option of cutting your shirt sleeves (short or long) on the bias or straight grain.
Sewing instructions for the Dinner Shirt are included in the download as a separate document with step by step photos.
Where do I start:
I have experimented with a few different variations for this shirt and have included them in the images for this pattern. One of my favourites is to include a contrast fabric for the yoke and to use that contrast in the under collars and back yoke lining.
