The women’s knit block is the starting point for many of your stretch patterns, not including trousers.  From tee-shirts to dresses, lingerie to draped dresses this block will enable you to produce many delightful stretch garments for your wardrobe.   It is provided without seam allowances, as are all my basic garment blocks.  This gives you the opportunity to add the seam allowances that suit your machinery and sewing style.

Knit Block features:

My Women’s Knit Block is home and industry ready and has No Seam Allowances (N.S.A.).  The block fitting is extended past the waist to the hip line to allow for the development of both top and dress blocks.  This a close fitting block intended for two way stretch fabric.  If you intend to use one-way stretch fabric then consider using the next size up so as not to over-stretch your fabric in fitting.

It’s also the very block used in so many of my Pattern Puzzles, featured on the blog ‘well-suited’.

Where do I start:

The first order of business is to select your closest size and begin the process of fitting this block to your own measurements.  The range of sizes on offer relates to my size chart.  Once you have achieved a good personal fit you will be ready to cut your first stretch patterns.
