Drape Gather Skirt – Sizes 6-22 (download)

$25.00$100.00

The Drape Gather Skirt is a favourite design from my Drape Skirt Patterns workshop and has been proven through the sales and production process in the fashion industry.  Here it has been graded in sizes 6-22 to match the size chart you’ll find on this website.

This is one of my favourite drape skirt patterns and I’ve made it for both summer and winter, with and without lining.  For your first sample, I suggest you try to make an unlined version in a summer, medium weight fabric.  When you have perfected the pattern and fit you’ll be able to be more adventurous and try the lined version.

With your order you will receive 3 PDF document downloads:
  1.  The sewing pattern in the size you have ordered (A0, 36″ Plotter or A4/letter)
  2. Sewing instructions as a photo tutorial including detailed instructions (16 pages).
  3. Lay-plans and Fabric Usage Chart (13 pages).

My PDF block and pattern downloads can be printed as A0 or 36” plotter print at your local print shop or as A4/letter at home.  Please be sure when you go to the print shop or print at home that you select for printing at ‘actual size’ with ‘no scaling’, or at 100%.  This will make sure your pattern is printed at the correct size.
It’s available for personal and home use as well as business and educational.  Use the drop down menu to make your selection.

Skirt features:

I’ve cut this skirt for a snug fitting to make the most of the gathered drape around the hips.  I’ve allowed 2cm garment ease on the hip and strongly recommend you use a stretch lining to ensure you can make the most out of the bias cut in wearing.  It has only two main pattern pieces for the shell of the skirt: a centre front panel cut on the straight grain and a side/back panel that’s cut on the bias and includes a fishtail flare on the centre back seam.  It has a strap waistband and centre back zip fastening.  A zip guard pattern has been included for the best possible finish in your tailored skirt.

It’s home and industry ready and based on my size chart.  The pattern fitting is for body hugging garment with a minimum of garment ease depending on your fabric choice.  When you check the measurements on the size you have selected you’re looking for your hip measurement plus 2cm garment ease.

Where do I start:

The first order of business is to select your closest size and begin the process of fitting this skirt to your own measurements.  The range of sizes on offer relates to my size chart.  Cut your closest size in a similar fabric for first fittings and make any necessary adjustments for personal fit. Once you have achieved a good personal fit you will be ready to cut in your final fabric.  I always recommend making a sample or toile garment in calico before cutting your precious and final fabric.

Enjoy. 🙂
