01 Sep Casual and Work Ready – Tab Polo Tee PDF Sewing Pattern
It’s been happening for the past three months and will continue until I run out of sewing patterns (duh never!). Every time I release a brand new pattern a few days later I send my newsletter subscribers a huge (50%) discount code for that new pattern and a special category of my PDF sewing patterns. So if you’re not subscribed you’ve got about two days to sign-up to get that wonderful special.
My latest sewing pattern, the Tab Polo Tee is a colourful take on the classic Fred Perry Tennis Polo. The body of the garment is made from two-way (four-way US) stretch knit fabric with a reasonable (4-8%) elastane content and the tab and collar are made from a mix of eclectic printed woven cotton fabric.
The cut of this tee is a loose version of my knit block. That is, not so grabby on the waist. There is still the usual 2cm negative garment ease I have in my knit block on the bust and hip measurement. Both short and long sleeve patterns are included in this download. Also included are detailed sewing instructions (12 pages) and a multitude of lay-plans (24 pages) for all the different versions of this wonderful tee.
Choose your fabric carefully…
The body should be cut from a stretch knit fabric with an elastane content that makes it two-way (four-way US) stretch. The tad and collars are cut from print woven according to your own taste and pattern mixing. All collars and tabs have fusible interlining attached.
You have an opportunity to really play with different prints and patterns not only with the collars and tab but the body fabric as well.
Consider that you have 6 different fabric print opportunities when cutting your collars and tab. I have mostly used two different fabrics in this tee pattern. One as top collars and tab and a different but matching fabrics for the under collars and tab.
As you assemble your Tab Polo Tee you’ll need to keep a keen eye on where you palce each of your contrast fabrics to make sure you finally get the effect you’re after.
Let me know how you go with your special version of the Tab Polo Tee and feel free to ask any questions you have in the comments section below. Or you could come along and join my Facebook group (STUDIO FARO MAKERS) to share your sewing and pattern making journey with other creative souls.
