For those of you that follow my ‘well-suited’ blog closely you will have realised that every month I’ve been releasing a new sewing pattern. With each release I’ve also been offering my newsletter subscribers exclusive fabulous discounts. For the month of October the focus is on my two #zero-waste sewing patterns: The Eura and The Elizabethan Shirt.
The inspiration for the Elizabethan Shirt sewing pattern came from the historic series Bridgerton. The shirt style is worn by the men in the series and I think it would have been made from a fine quality silk. The style is oversized and needs a soft, draping, fine cloth to be successful. I discuss this in some detail in a previous post: An Elizabethan Shirt
I’ve turned this original idea into a series of PDF Sewing Pattern downloads that are now available online. For the one week following this blog post you’ll be able to grab these patterns for FREE. The PDF sewing patterns are available in three print formats (A0, A4/letter and 36″ plotter) and has been altered to accommodate three different fabric widths (110cm, 130cm & 150cm).
There’s also a PDF download that includes sewing instructions and some analysis of this particular historic zero-waste pattern. In particular my viewpoint as an industry pattern maker. I focus on the neckline/collar combo and the interesting gusset detail combined with my choice of seam finish. You can go to the product page to get garment measurements of each of the fabric widths if you’re thinking of making this zero-waste sewing pattern.
Let me know if you have any questions about this historic design. I’m always happy to help as you work through the making process. You can also join my private Facebook group (STUDIO FARO MAKERS) if you’d like to post progress photos and chat with other likeminded creatives.
