I’d love to share with you one of my favourite versions of the Corporate Shirt Pattern. Using a sweet oriental print on patchwork (heirloom) fabric I decided I’d like to try a summer short sleeve shirt. To begin I decided to use only the collar stand and not the collar fall so you end up with Nehru look for your shirt.
I also wanted to continue in my ‘print blocking theme’ of finding a micro print that sits well with the oriental print of the main body of the shirt. I’ll use the micro print to line the back yoke, for the inside collar of the stand and flat piping in the shoulder seam and mock cuff.
I’ve put together a PDF document that details every step needed to make yourself a short sleeve pattern that demonstrates the finish needed to include a contrast flat piping in your sleeve cuff. Rather than add a separate cuff onto the short sleeve I decided that I’d prefer a lighter method where a grown on cuff folds back on itself to secure the flat piping. Be sure to check that the sleeve opening is a good fit for you before you add the grown-on cuff.
That FREE document is available when you buy my Corporate Shirt PDF Sewing Pattern. And for a short period I’ll leave a copy at the end of this post as a PDF download.
